Pool Safety Inspection Checklist
Prior to our pool inspection, we recommend that you do a detailed check yourself, just in case there is anything that is obvious.
Fence or Barriers
The height of your fence or barrier surrounding your pool area must be at least 1200mm high from the ground level. The fence must also pass the ‘pushover test’ and all screws, nails, and fixings must be secure. The gap between pailings must also not exceed 100mm. Horizontal rails must be at least 900mm apart.
Pool Gates
Pool gates must always open away from pool areas and latches must be on the inside of the pool area. These should be a minimum of 1500mm down from the top of the gate. The gate must close and latch by itself from all positions.
Swimming Pool Area
All climbable objects (branches, plants, furniture, etc.) from the fenceline at least 900mm away.
Signage
CPR signage must be a minimum of 300x300mm and made of weatherproof material and must be visible from anywhere in the pool area.
Doors and Windows
There must not be direct access through a door from the house to the pool area and windows must not open more than 100mm if there is access to the pool. If this is the case then they must be screened.
If you are unsure of any of these things, you can chat to our pool safety inspectors on the day of the inspection.
Clear And Detailed Reporting Pool Safety Reports
After a pool inspection, our certifiers deliver clear, easy-to-understand reports. These identify all aspects of the pool and surrounding areas that have been checked for safety. We’re transparent with all of our clients, so if we find something that doesn’t meet safety standards, we’ll identify this clearly on your report.
If your pool passes inspection, we’ll issue the appropriate certification.
